People have asked me how I came up with the name and what it means. If you are also wondering, here it is…
First, “Eight Penny”:
Have you ever noticed or participated in any wood-based construction? If you have, you may have noticed that nails sizes are measured in “pennies”. This measurement standard goes back to medieval times. The size of the nail and therefore its weight were priced by the penny or Pence - in this case a certain number of nails of this size cost eightpence. This is so for all types of nails.
Why "Eight Penny"?
Eight penny nails are roughly 2.5 inches long - they are the most used nails on a construction site - they are versatile - you use them to attach decking, temporary structures, casing, finish work, and walls. If you have ever swung a hammer you will have noticed that the 8-penny nail is easier to work with and is a great blend - almost perfect blend - of strength and efficiency - you can move very rapidly when using these nails. Likewise, when you work with us, we help you move with velocity and be effective.
We are Builders - we help you build your vision - turning your ideas into reality.
Why “Labs”?
Labs are where innovation happens. The only people that have a chance of being on my staff are those that have the curiosity to push to understand what they don’t know. To solve problems they’ve never seen before by innovating an approach that leads to a solution.
We are Innovators – we help you solve your most challenging problems.
